About this product
The Akai Professional Force is a standalone tabletop music production and DJ performance system. It features 64 velocity-sensitive pads, a 10GB sound library, built-in effects, and software included. With digital operation and multiple I/O options including XLR, 1/4" TRS, MIDI, and USB, it serves as a powerful sampler and sequencer. Priced at $1,299.00, it is designed for hands-on beat production and live performance without the need for a computer.
Our take
The Akai Force is a beast for standalone production. Having 64 pads gives incredible flexibility for finger drumming and sequencing. The built-in effects are solid, and the 10GB sound library gets you started right away. However, it's a tabletop unit with no battery, so you're tethered to power. The price is steep at $1,299, but if you want a computer-free workflow, it delivers. I wish it had more outputs for routing, but the I/O is decent with XLR and MIDI. Overall, a serious tool for producers who want to leave the laptop behind.
