Our take
The Akai AMX is a feature-packed little unit for Serato DJs. The built-in Innofader is smooth, and the 8 pads give ample control for cues and effects. The sound quality is excellent with 24-bit/96kHz audio. I appreciate the USB power, making it portable. However, the 1-month warranty is almost non-existent, and the modular form factor might feel cramped for some. Also, the lack of dedicated phono inputs limits turntable use. But for $179, it's a solid compact controller.
